 Taxonomy:  The type locality is Waiheke, Auckland Harbour. The only prior descriptions appear to be the type description of Ehlers and a brief description by Estcourt (Estcourt 1967) recording 26-27 thoracic segments, with ventral papillae on chaetigers 21-33 (compare Ehlers 33 thoracic, with papillae on 25-37). Hartman (Hartman 1957) has only a listing, and Day (Day 1977) strangely states "I have nothing to add to the very clear published descriptions."
